What is H.A.L.O?

H.A.L.O. is a wearable monitoring system for canine post-operative recovery. A reusable harness stays on the patient through recovery and continuously tracks vitals, giving your team an objective, real-time record of the hours between manual checks — and an alert the moment something changes.

Which vitals does it monitor?

Core body temperature, heart rate, and respiratory rate, plus patient activity and position. We've focused deliberately on the vitals that already drive post-op decisions rather than adding parameters that don't change what you do next.

Does this replace technician checks?

No — it extends them. H.A.L.O. is built to support clinical judgment, not substitute for it. It covers what happens between rounds and flags the patients who need a set of hands sooner than the schedule would have sent one.

How does it fit into how we already work?

It goes on at handoff and comes off at discharge. No leads to manage, no cart to wheel over, and no change to how you chart. Workflow fit is something we design around directly with clinical staff — if it adds steps to your night, we've built it wrong.

Is it reusable between patients?

Yes. H.A.L.O. is designed as reusable clinic equipment rather than a disposable, with a secure, non-restrictive fit intended for extended wear. Cleaning and reprocessing guidance is being finalized alongside our clinical testing.

What patients is it designed for?

Our current hardware revision is developed and validated for medium-to-large short-haired dogs, with trials expanding across varied breeds, coat types, and body types. We'd rather be precise about what we support today than overpromise on range.

Has it been tested on real patients?

Yes. H.A.L.O. has been through in-clinic data collection with partner veterinary hospitals under a protocol approved by the University of Waterloo Animal Care Committee, in accordance with CCAC guidelines. Expanding that dataset across more breeds and body types is our active focus. If your clinic is interested in doing a pilot study, please reach out!

When can our clinic get one?

We're targeting market launch at the OVMA Conference in Toronto in January 2027, with a limited group of partner clinics involved ahead of that. Join the waitlist and we'll come to you first — both for early access and for pricing when it's set.
